Pre-Abortion Screening

We provide Pre-Abortion Screening in South Texas.

If you’re considering taking abortion pills, at home methods or getting an in-clinic abortion, we provide pre-abortion screening that includes ultrasound services to confirm and date your pregnancy. Many telehealth abortion pill providers require an ultrasound before administering abortion pills, and we provide this service for you at no cost.

The State of Texas banned all methods of abortion, including telemedicine, the abortion pill, suction abortions, and D&E abortions. To better understand your options, we encourage you to schedule an appointment to meet with our medical team and learn fact-based, detailed information about abortion.

We’re here to empower you with the knowledge and options you need.

Pre-Abortion Screening Services

  • 1. Get informed about abortion laws and restrictions in our state

If you’re uncertain about the new abortion restrictions, we’re here to answer your questions and provide guidance. Please call (361) 991-2008.

  • 2. Access free ultrasound services

Our centers offer free ultrasounds to confirm the viability of your pregnancy and estimate its gestational age.(1) This information is crucial when considering abortion.

    Ultrasound exams can help by:

    • Dating the pregnancy
    • Ruling out ectopic pregnancy (outside the uterus) or molar pregnancy (a tumor in the uterus)(2)
    • Confirming pregnancy viability (approximately 15% of pregnancies naturally end in miscarriage)(3)
  • 3. Determine eligibility for the abortion pill

Before contemplating the abortion pill, it’s essential to determine the stage of your pregnancy. The FDA approves the abortion pill for pregnancies up to 70 days (10 weeks) after the last menstrual period.(4) We can provide you with vital information about your pregnancy and whether the abortion pill is an option.(5) It’s important to note that some women should not take the abortion pill; learn more.

If you are not eligible for a medical abortion, a surgical procedure known as suction/vacuum aspiration may be an alternative. An ultrasound can help determine the appropriate abortion procedure before making any decisions.

  • 4. Receive STI testing

STI testing helps assess your overall sexual health. Undiagnosed or untreated STIs can lead to complications, especially during or after an abortion procedure.

  • 5. Enroll in our after-abortion support program

Enroll in our free after-abortion support program. Whether you are currently contemplating abortion or have already undergone the procedure, we warmly invite you to participate in our care program. Connect with us before your abortion to have a support and care plan in place.
